discipline

Chuck Wagon Racing, Calgary Stampede

"whoever loves discipline loves knowledge, but he who hates correction is stupid."
-Solomon

Discipline. The opposite of laziness. To be lazy and undisciplined is to avoid the work it takes to learn. When people give you "feedback," that is they confront you with your laziness, sin, illogical thinking, self-centered-ness, do you hate it? Then you will remain ignorant, sinful, illogical. For the characteristic of the individual is to be extremely good at self-deception.

We need others. We need each other--desperately--to compensate for our self-deception. Honest friends who give honest feedback are rare and invaluable. But ultimately it is the individual who listens or who rejects the assessment. If you "love" it, though it causes you discomfort, internal disharmony, and work, you love knowledge.
